MINDFUL ACTIONS
What goes around, comes around
a point we all encounter in the journey of our lives
Joe always made time for others. She cared for her elderly neighbor next door carried groceries, listened patiently to her coworkers, and left thoughtful notes for strangers in library books. One day, her car ceased to function on a lonely road. She felt helpless until a man stopped to help.
He fixed her tire and refused any payment, smiling warmly. “I believe in paying kindness forward,” he said. Later, Joe learned he was the same man she’d once helped years ago when he was struggling to pay for his groceries. Life had come full circle, proving that what you give always finds its way back.
What goes around, comes around – a point we all encounter in the journey of our lives. Every action and word uttered has its impact, touching lives in certain ways we don’t recognize. Compassion gives rise to compassion —like negativity can pay back surprisingly in different forms.
We should remind ourselves that life knows how to balance in proportion. When we plant seeds of good intent or conflict, Mr. ‘Harvest’ is well-qualified to return the favor and teach us the intensity of our choices.
When we treat others with kindness, let it be a stranger whom we meet. For example, if he’s lost his way and nobody shows kindness to attend to him, place yourself in his shoes; you might be in his situation tomorrow. The action taken by you will come back in unexpected ways. This small act of care will brighten someone’s day, and they may pass that kindness on to someone else.
Similarly, painful actions have their effects by spreading pain further, leaving the opposite person upset and hurt. Just like the mirror that shows what we do, our actions too respond the exact way. It’s essential to think before we treat people and choose wisely.
The effects of our actions take time, so we are inclined to think it’s okay and continue with our actions. We are wrong; they are always there waiting for the right moment to strike, whether good or bad.
Anything done with good intentions brings us joy, peace, and happiness, and its return gift is tenfold. While harmful deeds have their challenges, we should be ready to face them.
This is life, and it teaches us to stay mindful and do the right thing through experiences. So whatever we send to the world has the capacity and the energy to return the favor.
After all, life is a reflection of what we put into it. The energy we give —whether through words, actions, or intentions. It will shape the world around us and come back to shape us in return.
By choosing kindness, sympathy, and understanding, we create a cycle of positivity that not only affects others but also us; it also reaches our hearts. The truth is simple: what goes around, comes around, reminding us that it helps us live in a way that uplifts us all as well.
“The game of life is a game of boomerangs. Our thoughts, deeds, and words return to us sooner or later with astounding accuracy.” —Florence Scovel Shinn
