🌱 A Letter to Those Finding Their Strength

I used to think I had to smile through the pain. Had to be “understanding” when people crossed my lines. Had to keep giving pieces of myself away because that’s what “good people” do.

But I learned something powerful:

Being kind does not necessarily make one powerless.

Empathy does not require an individual to allow himself or herself to be stepping stones for others.

Often people tend to think being loving indicates they need to give up their identity.

To those who’ve made me question my worth:

I see how you study my weak spots

I notice how you use my fears against me

I understand your moves now

I recognize the manipulation behind your “concern”

And here’s what changed everything:

I realized that your power was borrowed from me. Each time I lost confidence in myself, each time I ignored my instincts, each time I agreed to something I knew deep within was wrong — I was lending you my strength.
