Mutual understanding
“Equality and Openness in Relationships ”
The emphasis is on fostering independence
In recent years, the traditional definition of gender roles and marriage has become liberal. Things have changed, and today’s girls are much different from the old days. Parents are more guarded and conscious of their daughters’ education to raise them as independent, fearless, and intelligent women. Marriage is no longer a major concern, but learning how to be independent as well as how to handle money, with some help from parents, of course, is seen.
Once girls are groomed into well-rounded individuals, discussions about marriage become more appropriate. There has been a noticeable shift in societal attitudes toward marriage, particularly regarding the importance of consent. Traditionally, engagement was primarily arranged between parents, often overlooking the wishes of the bride and groom. Their voices were muted, and decisions were typically made by elders, suppressing their desires.
Today, both young men and women are encouraged to engage in open and personal conversations before considering marriage. This change allows couples to discuss family ties, finances, and other essential topics in a private setting, free from supervision. They can question each other candidly, creating a foundation for mutual understanding.
